Laurent Bernier and his uncle Évarist Mercier bought the maple grove from Mr. Camille Couillard.

In 1967, maple tapholing was done with a brace and the sap dropped into buckets.
Laurent gathered up the sap with a sleigh which was loaded with a ton of wood and pulled by his mare (named Puce).

Marie-Paule Émond, Évariste’s wife, and Colette Bernatchez, Laurent’ wife, helped the workers wash the caps that were used to filter the syrup. Afterwards they transformed the syrup into taffy and hard maple sugar, which is how it was done at that time.

After Collette’s accidental death in 1970, Marie-Paule got up her courage and continued her work at the maple grove while raising Colette and Laurent’s son. She retired in 1996.

Laurent and I are married since 1997 and own the maple grove that is named after him.

We are very pleased to greet people for a dig of the paddle and have some maple taffy on the snow.

We sell our on site products made in the transformation room.

On a reservation basis, we welcome many tourists all year round.

They bring our products back with them to their country like: England, France, Germany, Mexico, and Scotland and most recently in Japan where our products were offered to guests at a wedding.

Since last year we offer, on reservation, a reception lounge and a dining room with catering service

We are part of the Gourmet Route of Cap-Saint-Ignace and take the promotion of maple product as well as all local products to heart.

You are cordially welcome!
